Pichl Hutte to Plockenpass
July 20, 2008 I left the scenic Pichl Hutte at 7:15a for the final push Plockenpass. On leaving the hutte I followed the trail around the north side of the lake to a scree and boulder filled gully that led up, over a rugged trail to the Valentin Torl (2136m – 7008ft) (8:00a) and down through a boulder strewn alpine valley which, after about two miles came to the road near the farm at Obere Valentinalm (ca. 1500m – 4921ft) (8:30a). I followed the road down a series of switchbacks that led through forest and came out about five miles later at Plocken Haus (1215m – 3986ft) (9:50a), on the main road just below Plockenpass.
