June 26, 2008   Took the 8:37a train from Zurich to Landquart then to Koisters and on the Schall. Here I caught the bus to Surt En (1124m – 3688ft) (12:00 noon) and began my hike to Sesvenna Hutte. The first two hours were on a track leading through a forest gradually ascending to the farms and hutte at Uina Dadaint (1772m – 5650ft) (2:00p). The trail from the hutte was very dramatic rising sharply. It was carved out of the rock in many places during World War I. The last bit was through a narrow gorge before emerging onto a grassy alp (2157m – 7076ft) (3:00p). After another half hour of hiking across the Alp I reached the Swiss/Italian border (2299m – 7543ft) (3:30p). Continuing across the alp for another half hour I came to the Sesvenna Hutte  (2258m – 7408ft) (4:15p).
